My family and I are eternally grateful to live in one of the most youthful and diverse cities in our great state of California and to call the City of Lancaster home, where our vision for the future is positively clear. However, the time has now come for the people to take back the power, by channeling our voices together to make that collective vision a reality with a representative who will put the people before the political establishment.
I am eager to serve each of you as a Lancaster City Council member as a mirror reflecting the people, values, and future of our wonderful community. I have had the honor of living and growing on the Eastside of Lancaster since moving here in 1998 with my grandparents, cousins, and brother. I immediately noticed the melting pot of people from all cultures and walks of life, and over the years I have discovered the dignity of public service from the builders of our community, the ones who power our restaurants, schools, small businesses, parks, and hospitals who rise at the crack of dawn each day to build a better, more equitable city for all of us.
My grandparents instilled in me the value of empowering others and investing in the future of our young leaders and innovators to build a future for all of us, where no one is forgotten, and no voice is silenced because we are stronger when we are united.
As the Youth and Young Adult Pastor of Living Faith Cathedral Church and as an educator and mentor of both high school and university students, I am reminded of the teachings of my grandparents who believed the best way to build a better world is by engaging with children and families, especially ones who are different from us, who are socio-economically diverse, who otherwise might not had someone to listen to and care for them in the same way others have empowered, loved, and invested in us.
In addition to investing in our future, we must also protect and preserve our past. The pace of our lives becomes busier and more challenging as time progresses, however, I have found that the best way to face those challenges is by seeking the counsel of the wise and sagacious elderly citizens that call the City of Lancaster home in spaces that are often overlooked such as the convalescent homes that give belonging to the keepers of our history.
I have dedicated my life to this same cause and example by serving others while at the same time having the privilege to study and practice business, theology, history, and sociology. I possess the leadership and insight to listen to your concerns, learn from your experiences, and provide the leadership to turn those lessons into swift, decisive actions. I am eager to build relationships across all industries and throughout Lancaster communities and to expand community and youth engagement by increasing affordable housing and access to educational opportunities, driving innovation and small business development, enhancing public transportation, and ensuring safety in our schools, neighborhoods, and sacred and religious spaces.
With this campaign, I am making a promise to you to be a responsible, respectful, and inclusive representative for the City of Lancaster. Together, we will rise. The possibilities for Lancaster are limitless, and I hope to gain your support and vote for the Primary Election on Tuesday, April 14, 2020!
Let's show California what Lancaster is made of, and let's build a brighter tomorrow together.
